The Roadmap (2024-29)

Introduction:

Khalisani Mahavidyalaya, nestled at the confluence of urban and rural dynamics, has been a beacon of education since its inception in 1970. Originating from a region grappling with bamboo jungles, snake bites, and country liquor, the college emerged to provide quality education. Over the past 53 years, it has evolved significantly, meeting the needs of society and contributing to the nation's progress. However, recognizing the challenges posed by the new educational landscape, the college is poised to embark on a strategic plan for the next five years.

1. Academic Enhancement:

In response to the implementation of the New Education Policy 2023 and the challenges posed by the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS), Khalisani Mahavidyalaya aims to enhance academic offerings. The focus will be on recruiting additional faculty in departments particularly in those departments where we are facing severe shortage of teaching faculty, ensuring a well-rounded and robust academic environment. This initiative aligns with preserving traditional teaching methods while integrating technological tools to augment the learning experience.

2. Infrastructure Development:

To complement its existing facilities, Khalisani Mahavidyalaya plans to establish an indoor auditorium for cultural programs. The goal is to enrich the cultural experience for students and foster a vibrant community. Furthermore, the college intends to acquire additional land on the western and southern sides for horizontal expansion, addressing the growing needs of its academic programs.

3. Science Faculty Revitalization:

Acknowledging the declining enrollment in science faculties, the college is committed to addressing this issue. Initiatives will be undertaken by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to explore innovative strategies and collaborations. This includes MOUs with organizations and institutes to attract more students and revitalize interest in science disciplines.

4. Sustainability Initiatives:

Khalisani Mahavidyalaya aims to become a pioneer in sustainability by transitioning to alternative energy sources. The institution plans to harness solar energy comprehensively, making the campus fully reliant on renewable energy. Additionally, a meticulous rainwater harvesting system will be implemented to reduce dependence on dwindling groundwater resources, underlining the college's commitment to environmental conservation.

5. Career Development and Job Placement:

Recognizing the importance of employment opportunities for graduates, the college plans to organize an annual job fair. This event will serve as a platform for students to connect with potential employers, ensuring that the transition from education to employment is seamless. Job placement initiatives will remain a priority to enhance the college's impact on the professional growth of its graduates.

6. Sports

Over the past eight consecutive years, Khalisani College has achieved remarkable success as the team champion in both Men and Women sections in the inter-University Kabaddi meets. Recognizing the immense potential in our region, we are fortunate to have several national-level Kabaddi players from Chandannagar who are alumni of Khalisani College. These esteemed individuals have generously agreed to contribute their expertise to train our students. To further enhance our Kabaddi program, we intend to lay a Kabaddi mat on our college ground and also intend to inaugurate a National level Kabaddi Academy in our college. This infrastructure investment will provide our aspiring young players with state-of-the-art facilities to hone their skills and aspire to become international icons in Kabaddi—an event that has now gained recognition as an Olympic sport. We are excited about the prospect of nurturing the next generation of Kabaddi talents at Khalisani College and contributing to the sport's growth on a national and international level.
